EXOTIC ASIAN FOOD WORKSHOP I / IV

Asian cuisine is fresh, flavorful and colorful.
Asian countries have developed a kitchen that is unique. From spicy stir-fry vegetables to steamed and aromatic curries.
The dishes are rich in vegetables & fruits but low in fat. The Asian cuisine is known as a healthy cuisine. Tasting the dishes from this cuisine is an amazing adventure.

I choose 4 different countries’s kitchen for my workshops;
Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean
It will be fun to taste the new ingredients which we as Europeans never see in our local supermarkets.

INDONESIAN CUISINE:
We started with Asian Food 14 January 2016 .
Our first kitchen was Indonesian.
As a Dutch citizen, Indonesia has a special place in our hart and stomach. We are lucky to have Indonesian culture in Holland. There are a lots of restaurants to go to, many Tokos to buy Indonesian ingredients from. The variety of the cuisine is endless.
Richness of each Island’s kitchen gives more learning opportunitees !

Indonesian cuisine has been under the influence of the Chinese, Indian, Arabic and also the Dutch cuisine. Each has its contribution to the wide variety of dishes in this kitchen.
Indonesian cuisine has a large amount of fresh & dry herbs. As a side dish there is often prawn crackers- kroepoek -, pickles and sambal, as a main banana-wrapped shrimp dish with rice (nasi), often supplemented with vegetable,eggs or sweet peanut dressing also come in many dishes.

The home made kroepoeks were not so difficult at all !
