KOREAN CUISINE / EXOTIC ASIA – 17 Oct 2016

The 3rd and the last workshop of Exotic Asia was Korean Cuisine.

Somehow or other Korean Cuisine is most unknow but best choosen workshop by workshop participants each year.

Kimchi is most known of Korean’s kitchen in the world… kimchi refers to often fermented vegetable dishes usually made with napa cabbage, Korean radish or cucumber.
There are endless varieties with regional variations, and it is served as a side dish or cooked into soups and rice dishes at every meal.

We started with cucumber Kimchi… each participant made own kimchi in weckpot for take a way home.

I brought home made cabbage kimchi for our Bokkeum bap kimchi recipe .
Bap is a term used for the rice cooked/fried in Korean cuisine. Bap types are very simple, quick and cheap to make and it’s also delicious, light, savory.

Bulgogi is an other world known Korean food. The word Bulgogi literally means fire meat in Korean. It refers to marinated meat ( beef/chicken/pork ) cooked using traditional grilling techniques.

Asia has many kind of street food. Hotteok – a filled Korean pancake -is one of the most popular street snacks in Korea. Hotteok is a flour dough pancake filled with sugar & nuts inside. You serve or eat hotteok right after you make it !
